A healthy gut = healthy digestive health. Are you aware that your gut also has a direct "axis" with your immune system, skin, skeletal system, weight, and even your brain function?

Microbiome Diversity: The gut microbiome consists of trillions of microorganisms with a genetic diversity far surpassing that of the human genome, contributing significantly to our overall health. In fact, our gut microbes possess 150 times more DNA than what’s found in the rest of our bodies, essentially making us more microbial than human (Kresser, 2019).

Balance is Crucial: Maintaining a balance among different microbial species is essential. An imbalance, even among beneficial bacteria, can lead to health issues. It is possible to "over-do" supplementation, highlighting the complexity of probiotic supplementation and the need for a tailored approach.

Impact of Western Diet and Lifestyle:Loss of Microbial Species: The Western diet, characterized by high sugar, fat, and low fiber, is linked to a decrease in microbial diversity. This loss can have long-term health implications, potentially contributing to the emergence of new diseases (Sonnenburg, AG, et al. 2016).Intergenerational Effects: The decline in microbial diversity can affect future generations, underscoring the need for dietary and lifestyle changes to preserve and enhance microbial health.

Integrative Health Approaches: Pre-, Pro-, and Post-Biotics: Incorporating a balanced ratio of prebiotics (nourishing the good bacteria), probiotics (introducing beneficial bacteria), and postbiotics (metabolic byproducts that support gut health) can optimize gut health. Phytonutrients and Cellular Absorption: Products that enhance the delivery of concentrated phytonutrients through advanced absorption technologies can support overall health and potentially aid in managing chronic conditions.

Anecdotal Evidence: A product was recently introduced to me from a friend challenged with Lupus (chronic inflammatory disease). After a decade of decline with her condition, she is now thriving and contributes her improvement to two things; 1) giving the body what it needs via phytonutrients, and 2) the increased cellular absorption. She is finally absorbing the necessary nutrients for self-healing and longevity.

If you are suffering from some form of imbalance whether it be physical (i.e., inflammatory condition, weight, heart, diabetes) or emotional (i.e., depression, anxiety); I may be able to help. I would enjoy sharing my areas of expertise: Duke trained/ certified health coaching, where we focus on defining, designing, developing, and discovering new sustainable health related behavior; functional nutrition; phytonutrient supplementation. Just by feeling and looking better, better choices can become a habit.
